Look: Enchanting Blue & Silver Christmas

Exactly 6 hours and 32 minutes until Christmas! Have you decided what makeup look are you going to wear for the Christmas Eve? Not that I'm wearing this kind of makeup later. We're actually spending the Christmas Eve at our house so I won't be putting on any makeup except for brow makeup, of course!

This is my entry for Product Arena by Celline08's Holiday's Contest/Giveaway. Join now if you haven't and get a chance to win a lot of products.

I decided to stay away from the usual green, red or gold color combinations and make something unique by combining blue and silver. My color inspiration is a silver Christmas tree with blue balls I saw at the mall  several weeks ago. I think the color combination is striking!

I used a warm shade of pink for my lips to match with my blue eyes (NYX SMLC in San Paulo). So festive! I think this look is great for evening events/parties. Now, if you really want to stand out from the crowd or if you are attending a party with futuristic theme, you could easily tweak the look by applying the same silver eye shadow on your lips!

Pink or Silver? Say hello to my sister at the back!

Have a Merry Christmas everyone! Remember, God is the reason for the season!

And the angel said to them, "Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people." - Luke 2:10

God bless!

Review: Beauty Cosmetics 12 PC Synthetic Brush Set

Ever since the makeup bug bit me, I got obsessed with makeup brushes, in finding the best brush set - affordable & good quality. I spent a lot of time browsing different brushes from different brands every single day. I also kept a keen eye on the brush display whenever I visit Landmark. Reading reviews was also part of my quest for the perfect brush set. Being the thrifty person that I am, I looked for the cheapest possible brush set that has a good quality. I even bought a 15pc brush set from Divisoria thinking I had the best deal. Haha! Then I came upon Beauty Cosmetics brushes. Read my Beauty Cosmetics Haul. Let's now proceed to the review, shall we?

Price: The set costs 1250php which I find affordable compared to brush sets from other brands. Your money is definitely worth the kind of brushes you are getting - 12 good quality brushes, each brush having its unique purpose. There's also no spoolie nor lash comb which is a good thing for me!

Brush Roll: The brush roll is made up of faux leather and has a V-shaped self-fastening closure. It's fairly bigger than the 15pc brush set I got from Divisoria. It has 12 pockets but I can fit 15 - 17 brushes because the pockets are a bit spacious. I love how Beauty Cosmetics is neatly engraved at the brush roll. So classy!

And look! It's almost the same as Sigma's Classic Brush Roll which costs 22USD (900php) alone.

Photo from Sigma Beauty
Density & Bristles: The face brushes are fairly dense but not as much as BC Face Perfection Brush Set. However, I still find them denser than the Artist Brushes from Landmark. The bristles are made up of synthetic fibers which are very soft - not scratchy nor flimsy! The large powder brush is an exception, it pricks my face a bit, sometimes. I did not experience any shedding or bleeding after several washes.

Handles: Black, sturdy and has a holographic Beauty Cosmetics print on it. Too bad my camera wasn't able to capture the holographic details. The handles provide easy grip because the thickness is just right.

Face brushes include: Large Powder Brush, Flat Top Brush, Foundation Brush and Angled Blush Brush

Large Powder Brush - The largest brush that I own! It's very fluffy and round. I use this in setting my foundation with a loose powder. It's tapered end provide light and even coverage.
Flat Top Brush - I use this in buffing liquid/cream foundation on the flat areas of my face. I can also use this to set my foundation.
Foundation Brush - I rarely use a foundation brush because I still prefer using my own fingers in applying liquid foundation.
Angled Blush Brush - Perfect for contouring and applying blush/bronzers!

Eye brushes include: Large eye shadow brush, Small eye shadow brush, Concealer brush, Detailer brush, Eyeliner brush, Angled eye shadow brush, Blending brush, Crease/bullet brush

Eye shadow brushes: I use these brushes in applying lid color. Both can pack on the eye shadow well.

Blending brush - Blending is an important step one shouldn't miss in creating any eye makeup. This brush is great in doing the job!
Crease/bullet brush - My favorite brush! I use this brush all the time. It fits perfectly to my crease.

Angled eye shadow brush- The angled end of the brush is great for applying eye shadow on the outer-V.
Eyeliner brush- Can be used in filling out the brows and creating winged tip eyeliner! One of my favorites.

Detailer brush - I think this brush is too thick to be a detailer brush or an eyeliner brush. This can be used as a lip brush though.
Concealer brush - I don't use this as a concealer brush as I prefer using my fingertips. Instead, I use this brush in contouring my nose.

What I like:

  • Fast and hassle-free transaction with Fabshopaholic. I got my order the next day I paid for it.
  • Affordable
  • Locally available
  • Good quality brushes in terms of density, bristles and handles
  • Brush roll makes it easy to carry around
  • Sleek/Classy looking brushes
What I don't like:
  • None at all. I love the brushes!
Rating:
10/10
If you are still in search of the perfect brush set - good quality + affordable, go for Beauty Cosmetics! The brand has a wide selection of makeup brushes. They have new brush sets now. Go check them out! It is the perfect dupe for Sigma.

Where to get: 1250php at Beauty Cosmetics or Fabshopaholic

Look: Christmas Time!

5 days to go before Christmas! How are you enjoying the Holiday season, so far? I am maximizing my jobless, bum life, stress-free days as I am about to join the workforce first thing next year! Anyway, here's my interpretation of a Dainty Holiday - Dainty MD's Makeup and Nail art Contest

By joining the contest, I'll be able to practice both of the things I love doing - makeup and nailart! It is my first time to do a makeup look with a complementary nail design. Great idea, Ms. Angela!

Green will always be one of the colors of Christmas. It is my favorite color too, next to yellow, of course! I created a subtle smokey eye makeup that is perfect for Christmas dinners/parties! Since the eye makeup is already enough statement, I chose a nude lip color to keep the focus on the eyes.

Products used: Nichido Foundation Stick, L'oreal True Match Powder, Mememe Sunbeam, Ever Bilena Cheek Blush, Ever Bilena Color Pencil, Mememe Ocean Eyes Create The Look Pack, NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in London

I decide to create a green and black gradient nail design to match my eye makeup. I didn't use a sponge this time. I just used the brush that came with the black nail polish. Gradient is as easy as 1-2-3!

Takpan ang big nose!
Match ba? What do you think of the entire nail and makeup combination? Let me hear your thoughts by commenting down below! I would love to hear from you <3

Merry Christmas!
God bless!

Something I look forward to: Belle de Jour Power Planner 2013

I've always been dependent to planners in keeping track of my schedule and tasks that need to be done. Since high school, I always make sure that I have a yearly planner before January comes in. My go-to-brand would be Papemelroti. Oh, I remember the simplistic design, small squares and brown paper! The next thing I know, planners evolved and got better each year.

Belle de Jour Power Planner seems to be taking the lead in creating planners especially tailored for the Pinay fashionista achiever. What's better than a planner that could fit your lifestyle?

Belle de Jour Power Planner is especially made for the Pinay fashionista achiever. The term Belle de Jour (bel duh zhoor) is French fashion lingo for "IT" girl, we have redefined it to mean the modern day renaissance woman who dares to achieve her goals, lives her dream life, makes a difference in her community, while doing everything in great style.

It is really something I look forward to use for the following year. I want to use it exhaustively! It has amazing features: weekly layout features, monthly tools, wardrobe checklist, dream board, bills & cash flow tracker and more! I never thought planners could be this personalized. Ms. Darlyn Ty, the creative mind behind the planner must really know the needs of a woman!

Dream Board is one of my favorite features of the planner. With such feature, I'll always be reminded of my goals in life.

The BDJ Checklist is really fun to read. This is where you can get great ideas if you don't have a bucket list yet. I challenged myself to accomplish at least 50% of it. Some of the things that I'm looking forward to do are - have a breakfast on a mountain, eat something exotic & dance in the pouring rain! Wish me luck!

Weekly Layout Feature has a spacious area where your schedule can fit neatly. Now, I don't have to stick on post-its when I run out of space! Special boxes are provided below for extra notes - things to do, to buy lists, etc. The inspirational messages at the bottom of each page is a big plus!

Coupons! Here are some of the coupons I look forward to use.

I can't wait to visit browhaus to get my brows groomed! I haven't experienced professional brow grooming services yet. This is it!

Our family had an amazing time at Ace Water Spa two years ago because of my mom's BDJ planner. If you haven't tried the hydrotherapy massage, then you should! You can get your planner's worth just by this coupon alone. A hydrotherapy massage is 550php the last time I checked (BDJ planner is 598php). Imagine?!

I'm so proud of the participating online stores!

That's just some of the coupons included in the planner. There's a lot more! I am really impressed with the features of the planner. I am excited to have a more organized, empowered and goal-oriented version of me!

Aside from planners, BDJ has beauty subscription boxes now! Read my post about The BDJ Box Event and The October BDJ Box

Christmas is in the Air: Zen Zest Christmas Gift Sets

There’s a bit of the jolly man in the red suit in all of us. No matter how hectic schedules are, no matter how hard times may be, we cannot forego handing out presents during Christmas. To make shopping for gifts as fun and convenient as giving them away, Zen Zest has put together various products and wrapped them in pretty packaging for the different people in your Christmas list.

Your mom, aunt, or boss will surely appreciate a bottle of Room Fragrance in the scent of the season. A bottle of Christmas Spirit fills the air with the yummy goodness of cinnamon and berries while Winter Wonderland is heartwarming and nostalgic with its rich, spicy cinnamon and clove combination. A 250-ml bottle is priced at P250.00. If you can’t decide which of the two scents they would prefer, why not give a bit of both? A pair of 80-ml bottles of both scents goes for P99.00.

For your gal pals in the office, the 80-ml duo of Body Spray for Women will be perfect. For only P99.00, you can choose any two scents from the four available options which include the floral Pink Peony, the oriental Pink Tulip, the dainty Baby Powder and fruity Day Dream. An alternative to this can be the 80-ml bottle of Body Wash with Sponge gift set which retails for an affordable P75.00. Scent choices are Pink Tulip and Day Dream.

Your BFFs will be grateful for a box of Berry Blush and Pure Cotton Body Spray. The former’s rich scent is perfect for a boost of confidence while the latter’s gentle floral fragrance is ideal for slow, easy days. The 120-ml twosome for women is pocket-friendly at P120.

For the men in your life, the Body Spray set is your best bet. For 99.00, you can choose any two 80-ml bottles from the four variants on the shelves. The selection includes the citrus Sport, the intense Extreme, the refreshing Active, and the cool Rush.

ZenZest Diva Off

*All photos from Genzel Habab

Several weeks ago, I had the privilege to attend ZenZest Diva Off  at Redbox, Greenbelt 3. I was really giddy upon reading Liz of Project Vanity's invite! I was so excited as it was my first time to attend a ZenZest event. I didn't know what to expect or who to meet during that day. The brand hosted such event to introduce their Holiday Gift Sets which make perfect gifts for family, friends and loved ones this Christmas!

What a great place to hold such event - Redbox. Rock, dine & roll, indeed! Yay for buffet dinner! <3

In my opinion, the brand's Holiday Gift Sets are nicely packaged and well-thought of. Great gift ideas! Would you believe each box is only 75- 120php each?

I can't believe I've finally met the awesome couple, Divine Lee and Victor Basa! Divine Lee is the brand ambassadress of Zen Zest. She shared how much she loves the Room Fragrances.

Raych of Makeup by Raych and Gen-zel of Genzel Kisses were my buddies for the night.

Aside from listening and being entertained from beauty bloggers belting out different songs, meeting them is another thing that made the night awesome. There are a lot of good singers during the night!

Genzel and I with the very bubbly Teena Arches of The Kikay Girl on Youtube.

With Divine Lee and Victor Basa! I spent a good amount of time staring at the lovely couple!

Martha of The Beauty Junkee, Liz of Project Vanity, Ms. Michelle Fontelera, Founder & President of ZenZest Asia and Melai of Style & Soul. Martha won the grand prize for the videoke contest. She has an awesome voice!

Divine Lee gamely sang for everyone!

Finally met Ms. Donna of My Lucid Intervals who is very nice and approachable! She's one of the beauty bloggers I really look up to.

I really had an awesome night! Kudos to the ZenZest Team and Liz Lanuzo for successfully organizing a fun-filled event. I'm sure everyone had a blast! I'll be sharing with you my Zen Zest haul next. Stay posted!
