Review: Beauty Cosmetics 12 PC Synthetic Brush Set

Ever since the makeup bug bit me, I got obsessed with makeup brushes, in finding the best brush set - affordable & good quality. I spent a lot of time browsing different brushes from different brands every single day. I also kept a keen eye on the brush display whenever I visit Landmark. Reading reviews was also part of my quest for the perfect brush set. Being the thrifty person that I am, I looked for the cheapest possible brush set that has a good quality. I even bought a 15pc brush set from Divisoria thinking I had the best deal. Haha! Then I came upon Beauty Cosmetics brushes. Read my Beauty Cosmetics Haul. Let's now proceed to the review, shall we?

Price: The set costs 1250php which I find affordable compared to brush sets from other brands. Your money is definitely worth the kind of brushes you are getting - 12 good quality brushes, each brush having its unique purpose. There's also no spoolie nor lash comb which is a good thing for me!

Brush Roll: The brush roll is made up of faux leather and has a V-shaped self-fastening closure. It's fairly bigger than the 15pc brush set I got from Divisoria. It has 12 pockets but I can fit 15 - 17 brushes because the pockets are a bit spacious. I love how Beauty Cosmetics is neatly engraved at the brush roll. So classy!

And look! It's almost the same as Sigma's Classic Brush Roll which costs 22USD (900php) alone.

Density & Bristles: The face brushes are fairly dense but not as much as BC Face Perfection Brush Set. However, I still find them denser than the Artist Brushes from Landmark. The bristles are made up of synthetic fibers which are very soft - not scratchy nor flimsy! The large powder brush is an exception, it pricks my face a bit, sometimes. I did not experience any shedding or bleeding after several washes. 

Handles: Black, sturdy and has a holographic Beauty Cosmetics print on it. Too bad my camera wasn't able to capture the holographic details. The handles provide easy grip because the thickness is just right.

Face brushes include: Large Powder Brush, Flat Top Brush, Foundation Brush and Angled Blush Brush

Large Powder Brush - The largest brush that I own! It's very fluffy and round. I use this in setting my foundation with a loose powder. It's tapered end provide light and even coverage. 

Flat Top Brush - I use this in buffing liquid/cream foundation on the flat areas of my face. I can also use this to set my foundation.

Foundation Brush - I rarely use a foundation brush because I still prefer using my own fingers in applying liquid foundation.

Angled Blush Brush - Perfect for contouring and applying blush/bronzers!

Eye brushes include: Large eye shadow brush, Small eye shadow brush, Concealer brush, Detailer brush, Eyeliner brush, Angled eye shadow brush, Blending brush, Crease/bullet brush

Eye shadow brushes: I use these brushes in applying lid color. Both can pack on the eye shadow well.

Blending brush - Blending is an important step one shouldn't miss in creating any eye makeup. This brush is great in doing the job!
Crease/bullet brush - My favorite brush! I use this brush all the time. It fits perfectly to my crease.

Angled eye shadow brush- The angled end of the brush is great for applying eye shadow on the outer-V.
Eyeliner brush- Can be used in filling out the brows and creating winged tip eyeliner! One of my favorites.

Detailer brush - I think this brush is too thick to be a detailer brush or an eyeliner brush. This can be used as a lip brush though.
Concealer brush - I don't use this as a concealer brush as I prefer using my fingertips. Instead, I use this brush in contouring my nose.

What I like:

• Fast and hassle-free transaction with Fabshopaholic. I got my order the next day I paid for it.
• Affordable
• Locally available
• Good quality brushes in terms of density, bristles and handles
• Brush roll makes it easy to carry around
• Sleek/Classy looking brushes

What I don't like:

• None at all. I love the brushes!

Review: Beauty Cosmetics Face Perfection Brushes

I know you've been waiting for this review ever since I posted my Beauty Cosmetics Haul. Well, here it is! What's really intriguing about this particular brush set is it looks so much like Sigma Synthetic Kabuki Kit. Apart from the price, I couldn't really compare Beauty Cosmetics with Sigma because I do not have the latter. Sigma Synthetic Kabuki Kit costs approximately 2500php (56usd) while Beauty Cosmetics Face Perfection Brushes cost 850php (20usd).

Here is how Sigma Synthetic Kabuki Kit looks like. Photo taken from Sigma Website. Aesthetic wise, I think the color of the Beauty Cosmetics brush bristles are more expensive looking than Sigma's. 

The brushes came with a drawstring pouch with Beauty Cosmetics logo. Very handy for travel! Each brush came with a plastic sleeve. 

Density: I am amazed how all of the brushes are densely packed! The images above don't lie! The density of a brush must be looked whenever one is looking for a good quality brush. If a brush is not densely packed, the makeup application would be difficult. The softness of a brush would be of no good if it isn't densely packed. 

The brushes look so nice that I have to take multiple photos of them! I had difficulty choosing what photos to include in this post.

Bristles: They are made of synthetic bristles which are super soft! Synthetic brushes are great for applying powder, cream and liquid products on the face. As opposed to animal hair bristles, synthetic bristles do not absorb products. They transfer product very well unto the face and give a seamless finish. I didn't experience any shedding or bleeding during the first wash.

Handles: The handles of the brush have a shiny finish engraved with silver Beauty Cosmetics lettering. They are thicker than the handles of the 12 PC Synthetic Brushes. I think they really look sturdy and classy! The length of the brushes are no bigger than the tip of my middle finger up to the end of my palm. (Sorry no exact measurements!)

Let's now move on to the individual brushes. They have no name like Sigma so I'm gonna give them names!

BC Tapered Kabuki which looks like Sigma F86: Perfect for applying cream or liquid products onto the harder to reach areas of the face like the sides of the nose and the inner corners of the eyes.

BC Flat Top Kabuki which looks like the famous Sigma F80: Perfect for applying cream or liquid products onto the flat areas of the face like cheeks and forehead. I use this brush to set and buff my foundation.

Here's a side by side comparison with the flat top brush from the BC 12 PC Synthetic Brush Set. The flat top kabuki brush is smaller but denser!

Look how the smaller brush is denser than the bigger one. I prefer the flat top kabuki brush from the Face Perfection set than the flat top brush from 12 PC Synthetic set because it's more firm. I find the bigger flat top brush a bit flimsy.

BC Angled Kabuki which looks like Sigma F84. Perfect for applying bronzer and blush! I love love love this brush! Definitely my favorite. I'm a big contour fan that's why I love using this brush. Now I've found the perfect brush for contouring and applying brush.

In comparison with the angled brush from the 12 PC brush set, the brush is again, denser or more tightly packed.

Like the flat top brush, the angled brush both from the 12 PC brush set are a bit flimsy in my opinion. The brushes from the Face Perfection Set are definitely easier to use than the face brushes from the 12 PC brush set.

What I like:

• Affordable for 850php. Totally worth it! 
• Locally available. I had a smooth transaction with Ms. Rosenn, the owner of Beauty Cosmetics. I got my order the next day after I paid for them.
• The brushes are super soft and densely packed. 
• The travel-sized brushes can easily fit any makeup kit unlike full-sized brushes
• Thick handles provide a better grip
• No shedding or bleeding  
• Synthetic bristles = cruelty free
• Each brush performed its job well
• Sleek looking 

What I don't like:

          None at all! I love the brushes to bits!!

Beauty Cosmetics Haul

I am really excited to share with you about my Beauty Cosmetics Haul! I've been wanting to have the 12pc Synthetic Brush Set from the brand since forever. I've heard from a lot of Beauty Bloggers how the set can be good dupe for Sigma brushes. Since Sigma is beyond the budget, I opted for Beauty Cosmetics! Last week, upon browsing Beauty Cosmetics Facebook Page, I saw a status post stating that the 12PC Synthetic Brush Set is already out of stock! I hurriedly texted Ms. Rosenn, the shop owner to ask if there's anything left. There's none! My heart sank!! Luckily, there's Fabshopaholic who also sells BC brush sets. I am too glad that they still have the particular set. Ms. Myla, the shop owner confirmed that they still have it on hand. Problem solved! Aside from the 12pc Synthetic Brush Set, I also ordered the Face Perfection Brush Set from Beauty Cosmetics which looks super similar with Sigma's Synthetic Kabuki Kit. 

If I am not mistaken, the Face Perfection Brush Set is recently released two weeks ago. The set is sold for 850pesos exclusive of shipping fee. The set garnered a lot of buzz even if it's just been released two weeks ago. It extremely looks like Sigma. From the handle to the bristles. No kidding! 

My orders arrived safe and sound the next day I paid the brushes. The 12PC synthetic brush set is 1250 while the Face Perfection Set is 850. Thank you so much Ms. Rosenn and Ms. Myla for the smooth and fast transaction! I appreciate sellers who take time to reply to text messages of their customers. I am very matanong or inquisitive when it comes to online shopping. So, thank you for accommodating all of my queries! I'll put up a review in two weeks.

Travel: Weekend at Baguio City II (Church Anniversary & Meralco SummerHouse)

The main reason of our Baguio visit is to attend Church on a Hill Christian Community's 7th anniversary. It is a sister church of our local church. I was once a member of the church that is why I really wanted to celebrate with them. I've seen how God worked gloriously on their church.

They grew in quantity and in quality each year. The testimonies of the church members are not enough to describe God's grace and power. The story of how their church flourished is really amazing. It started from a small Bible study group. Look at them now! 

Few years back, the church rented a space at Minesview to hold Sunday Celebrations. Now, they have their own space. God is full of grace! 

Daddy preached about disciple-making. Yes, my dad is a pastor! 

Hello Ayie and Sam!

The church has the tradition to have kainan after the service which I really enjoy! I had 5-6 of this yummy brownies. Calories!

Now, I'll share some pictures of the house. We stayed at Meralco Summerhouse. Such a lovely place to stay. Thanks to Tito Bong. It was really cozy.

The interior of the house is American-inspired. Fireplace, wooden fixtures, picture frames.

Every meal is fiesta! From breakfast, lunch to dinner. Bonggang bongga ang pagkain!

REVIEW: 15pc Brush Set from Divisoria

Hello ladies! As promised, here is my review of the 15 pc brush set I got from my Divisoria trip which I already talked about here. These are fake MAC brushes, take note, fake. I did not purchase this because it's labeled MAC. Noooo! I purchased this because it's the best as compared to other brush sets available in Divisoria. I almost gave up my search for the perfect brush set during my Divisoria trip, almost all brushes I tried were really scratchy! Luckily, I find these! 

These are the brushes! 

Powder brush in large and medium: The difference in size is hardly seen in the picture. There's only a small difference in size between the two. Not scratchy but flimsy! It bends easily when I use it to apply powder on my face. It works well in applying blush-on so it's okay.

Fan brush: Hmm. Sparse and flimsy! It is okay because I hardly use fan brushes. 

Angled contour brush: The reason why I purchase the set! I wanted an angled contour brush for so long. I love this brush! Good for contouring and blushing. 

Eye shadow brushes in small, medium and large: Again, there's not much big difference between the sizes! Boo-hoo. The largest one on the right can be used as a concealer brush. These are made of synthetic fibers. Obviously, I already used the one in the middle. Color pickup is good enough.

Angled eye shadow brushes: Just the ordinary angled eye shadow brushes. I don't know why but, I don't find these brushes useful. They are too soft for precise eyeliner application.

Eyeliner brush: I find this very useful in applying gel liner.
Lip brushes: I am not sure what the other brushes are for. I just think they are lip brushes.

Others: Eyebrow comb and brush, a very scratchy spooly and an eyeshadow applicator. It's annoying how these three are almost always present on a brush set. It's not that they are not useful but I think it's better if these are replaced with other kind of brushes.

They look good in the picture, right? :)

The verdict:

Hmm. Not a very good find. Except for the powder brushes, the angled contour brush, and the eyeliner brush, the set is good as nothing! The usefulness of the brushes were very limited. It's also annoying that there are three eye shadow brushes in almost similar sizes! One eye shadow brush is enough!
Good thing the set is only 400php! I must confess that it was pure impulsion that drove me to buy this set. At least now, I am more educated in choosing the right brushes next time I purchase!

Despite the sayang feeling I felt about my 15pc brush set, something made me really happy!!!
Yes, I am talking about the retractable kabuki brush! It was so soft! It was multi-purpose and handy too!
I use this everyday in applying foundation and blush. I love, love love this brush.

 This costs only 90php. Such a steal, right? :> I am perfectly happy with this brush!!

Look how dense it is? I LOVE IT ♥
