Review: Sleek I-Divine Storm Palette + Comparison with Urban Decay Naked Palette

*Warning: Photo-heavy post

I wanted to have a good quality eye palette with a set of versatile shades that I can bring around when I go out. Originally, I wanted to get Urban Decay Naked Palette but my student budget wouldn't allow me. So, I searched for possible dupes of UD Naked palette and came upon Sleek makeup palettes. After reading good reviews about the product, I finally gave in and bought Sleek i-Divine palette in Storm a month ago from Chic Cosmetics Manila at 650php.

I really admire the packaging! Very Sleek indeed! The matte finish of the eye palette makes it look classy. It's very sturdy too.

Ta-daaa! It comes with a huge mirror. I appreciate makeup palettes with big mirrors.  A dual ended foam applicator is included as well.

It has 12 gorgeous shades: 9 shimmer/metallic, 3 matte. It has matte black, matte brown and matte light brown, which I think are staples in an eye palette. The shimmer eye shadows are very nice as well! One can create several makeup looks from this palette! From day to evening looks!

Are you excited to read about my comparison between Sleek Storm and Urban Decay Naked Palette? Read on!

Packaging and price: UD Naked is sold for 2500 - 3000php while Sleek is only 650php. Sleek Storm is smaller in terms of thickness and size and has a matte black plastic packaging. I like how it closes securely, I don't have to worry about the palette opening inside my bag. UD Naked on the other hand, is famous for its velour and letters in gold leafing which chips off and fades over time. The velour finish of UD makes it prone to lint making it look dirty and old. In my opinion, UD palette is not travel-friendly because it's quite bulky and is likely to accumulate dirt. Also I find UD's magnetic closure unreliable as it might open up in your bag while traveling.

Both palettes have mirrors but it's more convenient to use Sleek because it's bigger compared to UD. While Sleek comes with a dual ended foam applicator, UD comes with Good Karma brush.

Eye Shadow Shades, Pigmentation, Application:

Urban Decay Naked - has 12 neutral shades. From satin, shimmery to matte finishes. Every color from the palette is very pigmented, soft and buttery. It's like nothing I've ever had before! Blending is easy because the eye shadows are very soft and buttery. The palette is perfect for women who want to stay on the safe side when it comes to playing with eye shadow colors. Day and evening looks can be created using the palette.

Sleek iDivine Storm Palette - has 12 shades, a combination of neutral and dark shades with matte and shimmer finishes. The pigmentation is as great as UD's Naked, or even better. The swatches can tell how greatly pigmented the eye shadows from this palette are. However, I find Naked softer and more buttery compared to Sleek. In terms of color, Sleek has more dark shades while Naked has more neutral shades. I think more looks can be created from Sleek Storm palette.

Dupes: Photo comparison of shades from Sleek and Urban Decay Naked that I find similar or close to each other.

Since the eye shadows from Sleek Storm palette has no names, I numbered them from L-R, Top to Bottom in ascending order.

There you go! I find several shades from Sleek palette similar with Urban Decay Naked palette making Sleek Storm a good dupe for Naked!

Let me now conclude my thoughts about the Sleek Storm Palette:

What I like:
  • Great dupe for Urban Decay Naked Palette
  • Affordable for 650php compared to Naked at 2500-3000php
  • Great pigmentation
  • Staying power up to 4 hours without primer
  • The shades can create day to night makeup looks
  • Sturdy and sleek packaging

What I don't like:
  • Shimmer eye shadows are prone to fallouts
  • Not available in leading department stores
Rating:
10/10
Great pigmentation, colors, staying power and packaging. If you are looking for a good dupe of Urban Decay Naked Palette for an affordable price, Sleek Storm is definitely the one!

Where to get:
650php at Chic Cosmetics Manila or Sleek Website.

Being the makeup junkie that I am, it's a must to know the proper way of makeup application. Pros for Props couldn't say it better, Looking your best starts with the proper makeup application! Indeed! The workshop is not just for makeup lovers out there, it's definitely for every woman who wish to gain knowledge about the proper makeup application.

The workshop covers skincare, brow shaping and brow makeup, foundation application, color theory, eye makeup, day and evening makeup, contouring and highlighting and lash application. The workshop fee is definitely worth it since the workshop basically covers all the necessary topics about makeup.

I met up with Mitchie, Joyce and Raych before heading to the workshop venue. Chika minute over pizza at YellowCab!

The workshop was held at Torre Venezia Suites, HG Studio. The venue was a makeup and photo studio rolled into one! Very convenient for clients. The workshop held was exclusive for a number of beauty bloggers.

Before the workshop proper, we were introduced to the owner of Props Tools and Cosmetics, Ms. Janine Bacsa, a BS Psychology graduate from De La Salle University. She also took up a makeup course in HD Academy.

Clarence Paul, a professional makeup artist facilitated the makeup workshop. He's been in the makeup industry for almost 5 years.

Before makeup application, we were asked to remove our makeup: cleanse, tone and moisturize! Here's our bare faces!

Brow shaping & brow makeup, my favorite part!

Bloggers attentively listening to Clarence Paul.

Yummy red velvet cupcake from Cukay's  for our snack! I love it!

We were asked to do a makeup look that would apply the color theory. I chose golden yellow and green.

Photo shoot after the makeup workshop! It was a wonderful experience to join a makeup workshop. I definitely gained a lot of knowledge about the proper makeup application. I also learned several tricks from Clarence Paul. The makeup workshop is also an opportunity to meet fellow beauty bloggers! Thanks to Ms. Janine who generously invited beauty bloggers to attend the makeup workshop and to Clarence Paul who shared his tips and tricks about makeup application!

Early Christmas: Prizes from Shen's Addiction Giveaway

Massive, huge, heavy, awesome, overwhelming, great, superb. Aaah! The prizes are so awesome! I'll be forever grateful to Ms. Shen for these prizes. It was like a huge early Christmas present or even a year's supply of beauty products. The prize I got is like several giveaway winnings combined. Pwede na kong hindi sumali ng giveaways ng isang taon!

I won't be taking picture and listing every single product because that would take forever. Instead, I grouped the products into three categories:

A. Hair Care: I am excited to try out Syoss Moisture Intense Conditioner and Black Beauty Shampoo. The heavy weight of my loot is attributed to these products! Excuse the fact that I included a toothpaste and a soap in this group, my bad!

B. Skin Care: Majority of the products from this group went to mom. Hello, Ponds! I'm excited to try out the cleansing oil, Majolica Majorca Glove Cream and Snoe Fresh Custard powder.

C. Makeup: Save the best for last!! These products satisfied my makeup cravings. K-Palette, Benefit, Charm, Mememe and a Bobbi Brown lipstick! I can't wait to show you each item.

You know what's the best part of winning Ms. Shen's giveaway? Not the prizes but the chance to finally meet one of my biggest inspirations in beauty blogging, the author of Shen's Addiction. Read Meeting Shen's Addiction.

Meeting Shen: One of my biggest inspirations in beauty blogging

I had a wonderful chance to meet one of my biggest inspirations in beauty blogging, Ms. Shen of Shen's Addiction last Thursday together with Svetlani of Beauthriftful and Raych of Makeup by Raych. The greatest part of winning Ms. Shen's 4th Anniversary Giveaway Contest is not the prizes itself but a chance to finally meet the person behind Shen's Addiction.

Our prizes were too heavy for shipping hence the meetup. We met up at Bonifacio Global City. It was a wonderful opportunity to meet fellow beauty bloggers and of course, Ms. Shen. Her beauty blog truly served as a big inspiration to my beauty blogging journey. I only started last July 2012 and her blog served as a big help in terms of makeup tips and tricks, beauty products, tutorials and of course encouragement. Read My Winning Entry if you want to know more how her beauty blog encouraged me to explore beauty. Words are not enough to describe how I admire her!

As if the prizes were not enough generosity, Ms. Shen gave us a treat at Serenitea, BGC! Their Wintermelon Milk Tea is a must try!  Yumyumyum! Fangirl-ing moment with Ms. Shen! I think she's a great person to hang out with. I thought she was a serious person judging from her witty posts but not at all, she's very cheerful and kalog!

I also had a chance to meet fellow beauty bloggers, Svetlani and Raych. I had a great time chatting with them. It's always fun to talk with people with the same interests! Let's meet again, soon!
With the charming Svetlani
With my new found makeup friend, Raych
Together, we shared our excitement as we go through our prizes! We instantly rummaged through our beauty items. Imagine the excitement when opening presents during Christmas Eve? That's exactly how we felt! Kulang nalang, Christmas songs sa background! We didn't expect our prizes to be that huge. Here's a peek!

Left: Mine Right: Raych's
I'll be sharing with you what's inside my loot next. Stay tuned!

Thank you so much Ms. Shen for our lovely prizes and for the wonderful chance to meet you! Hope to see you again!
