Look: Golden Goddess

I finally tried the palette I bought last July. It's a 15 color shimmer eye shadow palette which I included in my July Haul. I bought it because I just wanted to have something to play with. I love the colors so much. I bought  this palette for only 100 pesos. Super pigmented and blendable!

A total of 15 colors housed in fairly big pans (bigger than a 5-peso coin). I'm happy with this palette! It has a shimmery overspray which goes off after you swipe off the first layer. The true color of the eye shadow is slightly lighter with what you see in the pan.

 More about my look!

Sorry for the uneven lighting, the other half of my face is exposed to natural lighting hence the slight difference in color. Look at my brows!

I used the teal eye shadow (on the topmost, rightmost pan) for the inner corners. Gold eye shadow on the crease area and brow bone and the black eye shadow on the outer v. I didn't use any primer or base on my eyes. That's how pigmented these shadows are.

I made the eyeliner extra thick because I want my look to be really dramatic. Okay, I know. I'm always a failure in lining eyes. It almost always ruins the whole look. But I ain't giving up! I should practice, practice, practice!

And for something out of the ordinary, I paired it with golden lips! I used the same gold eye shadow I used on my eyes. Cool, huh? It is my first time to use an eye shadow as a lip color. I've seen other beauty bloggers do this and so I tried. Now, I want to try other colors too!

While I was camwhoring and trying out different effects on my phone, I was awed by the HDR effect (i'm using camera360 app) that's why I'm sharing extra pictures with you!

Golden lips intensified!

What do you think of this look? Would you wear an eye shadow as a lipstick too? I would love to hear your comments!

Have a good night!
God bless!

Review: NYX Round Lipstick in Hot Pink

Hey guys! Just a quick post before I sleep! Here's a review on the lipstick I used on my Date Night Look which is NYX rls in Hot Pink. I know many of you are already familiar with this because NYX round lipsticks are really famous, known for the great pigmentation, wide range of colors and affordable price.

I love that NYX puts color cap at the bottom of it. Really convenient! It is color accurate too. And unlike the color cap that Ever Bilena has on their matte lipsticks, the color cap on NYX is attached well and doesn't come off!

Hot Pink is a really nice shade of pink. Not to bright nor to pale! It gives off a tinge of lavender color in a different lighting. I believe this suits all skin tones! Pardon the not so good lip swatch. I think I didn't exfoliate my lips upon applying the lipstick. Teehee.

Hand swatch in artificial light.

Hand swatch with flash.

What I like about the product:
  • The color which is really nice! It's a very wearable shade of pink. If you are afraid to wear pink lipsticks (like me before!), you should definitely try this out
  • Great pigmentation. Well, NYX rls lovers know this!
  • Glides on smoothly on lips.
  • Creamy-finish that is just right!
  • Packaging. It's simple but doesn't look cheap at all. Color cap is a big plus!
  • Affordable. Each lipstick costs under 150php.
What I don't like about the product:
  • Soapy scent. Blegh! You know this too!
  • So-so staying power. It comes off easily after a meal!
  • Difficult to find. Only available online! Not available in major shopping malls like SM.
  • Melts like crazy! I do hope NYX improves their formulation!

Rating:
8/10
In conclusion, NYX round lipsticks have great color selection (really endless choices!), great pigmentation and packaging but must improve on formulation. It really melts like crazy. The soapy scent is annoying too. But I still recommend NYX round lipsticks for those who want to try out different colors. But if you are looking for lipsticks with great staying power, NYX round lipstick is not for you. I've heard NYX matte lipsticks have great staying power.

Where to get:
Many online sellers have NYX products. I personally recommend Chic Cosmetics Manila.

Don't forget to check my Date Night Look where NYX rls in Hot Pink was used!

What do you think about NYX round lipsticks? I would love to hear from you!

God bless!

Look: Date Night

Happy Monday! How are you enjoying the holiday so far? (National Heroes' Day in the Philippines!). I'm here to share you a look I did a month ago.

Something I would wear out on a dinner night. Simple and clean! If you are going out on a date, keep it simple! You don't want looking too made up. Just enhance your features. I used neutral colors on my eyes. I tried to keep it simple as possible. I used my DollFace 88 eyeshadow palette as usual. For the lips, I used NYX round lipstick in Hot Pink which gives off a nice shade of pink. Not too bright nor too pale.

A closer look on my eye makeup. I used a creamy white liner as base which I think I over applied. I only noticed in the pictures, not very noticeable in personal. I used a brown eyeliner instead of black to make it look more natural.

I contoured and highlighted my nose using a brown eyeliner as contour and concealer for highlight. I love contouring my fat nose. Hahaha. For the cheeks, I used a coral shade of blush.

Products used:
Fanny Serrano Two Way Cake in Organza
Ever Bilena eye pencil in brown
Shawill blusher in Dreamy Rose
NYX round lipstick in Hot Pink

That's it for my date night look! What do you think about it? What would you wear out on a date night? I would love to hear your comments!

Have a great day ahead!
God bless!

Before I further proceed, let me thank Nicole first for giving me this award! I really appreciate it! Thanks, Nicole! Read more about the Blog Bug Award on Nicole's post.

Now here are the rules once you are awarded/tagged:

  • If you are given the Blog Bug award, You must answer the questions that follow and the title of the post should be "I Got Bitten by the Blog Bug"
  • You must give the link of where you originally got this award, and you can tag as many bloggers as you want. Link their pages on the post and also inform them through comments in their blog. :)
  • Optional: You must post a banner corresponding to the site that you are using to blog in your sidebar and it should link back to your post about the Blog Bug Award.

Let's move on to the Q&A! :)

When and Why did you start blogging?

September 2011. Out of my love for nail art! I was so hooked to nail art last year and just couldn't keep it to myself! I felt like I had to share musings and ramblings on about nail art!

What do you love to blog about and why do you like it?

I love blogging about make up looks and products, nail art, fashion finds and all the kakikayan out there!

How did you get your blog name?

Initially, my blog name was iyanailsit.blogspot.com because I wanted to blog mainly about nail stuff but then I decided to blog about make up too so I turned it to something more generic, just my name. What could get more boring than that? How uncreative, huh?

What do you think is your best post yet?

Um, um, um. Is there any? You be the judge!

What is your inspiration for blogging at present?

Fellow beauty bloggers and of course, my readers! Every single comment is appreciated! A comment can make my day!

Message for your readers:

Thank you, thank you, thank you for reading my blog posts!

And now, it is my turn to award/tag my fellow bloggers! I hereby award/tag you the BLOG BUG AWARD!!

I wanted to add a few more but Nicole already awarded/tagged them. That's it! I hope you enjoyed this post! Again, thank you Nicole for this award/tag!

Red vs Pink: WetnWild Think Pink & Stoplight Red Review

Hey hey hey! I've been meaning to make a comparison between red and pink lipsticks (how it can transform a look, which suits best for a given occasion, which goes well with morena/fair-skinned, etc.). I was thinking of what lipsticks to use for the comparison and then these lipsticks came to mind!

These are WetnWild Megalast Lipsticks in Think Pink (901B) Stoplight Red (911D). These lipsticks came from WnW set so they are not full-sized. I figured that they are at the opposite sides of the pole, one very pale pink, the other, very very bright red! Purrrfect for comparison!

Swatches! Stoplight Red is a really bright, attention-seeking, warm-toned red perfect for parties and photo shoots! Can be easily worn by fair-skinned and morena women. Who doesn't love red? On the other hand, Think Pink is a very pale/nude pink lipstick that I find hard to pull off. It washes me out. However, this goes well with smokey eyes!

WnW Megalast lipsticks have a matte finish which I love! The full-sized lipsticks are sold at 299php at WetnWild counters (but only 3 dollars/150php in the US/Canada) Wide variety of colors available! I want to get Mauve Outta Here and Smokin' Hot Pink soon!

Lip swatches! Think Pink settles on the line of my lips even if it's already exfoliated. It's really drying too. Stoplight Red has a better formulation.

Sooooo, red or pink? Which do you think suits me best?

What I like about it:
  • Really good pigmentation. Just one swipe and you're good to go!
  • Long staying power. Up to 4-5 hours!
  • Matte
  • Great color selection
  • Affordable. Only 299php. (especially if bought in the US! anyone who can get me wnw products?)
  • Stoplight red has great formulation
  • Widely available
  • Packaging! I love how simple it looks!
What I don't like about it:
  • Think Pink is too drying! It settles on the line of my lips! Also highlight the darkness of my upper lips
  • Numbering system is difficult to remember! It would be easier if they stamped the names at the bottom rather than numbers. Confusing!
  • Not much reason to dislike the product!
Rating:
9.5/10 WetnWild Megalast lipsticks are really good quality ones for the price! Color payoff is superb!

Where to get:

WetnWild counters in SM Department Stores. You can visit their site too! Check WetnWild now!

Recreate: Katy Perry- Wide Awake Makeup by Color is my Weapon

Hey guys! If you are a follower and subscriber of the beautiful Noe Mae, you've probably seen her Katy Perry Wide-Awake Makeup Tutorial. Noe Mae is really good in creating different looks. Very pretty and humble too (she's my girl crush)! She's definitely one of my inspirations in beauty blogging. Now, lets proceed to my own version!

I made it a little more dark and smokey by using a black eye shadow over the crease which added depth to the eye makeup. I used my DollFace palette again! It's really versatile. From brights to darks.

My falsies are about to fall-off. Boohoo! I'm really bad at putting these.

I used WetnWild Silk Finish Lipstick in Dark Wine (522A) for the lips. It's a nice plum shade!

And since my eye makeup is smokey and dramatic, I figured that it could also go well with nude lips. I used NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in London.

Which looks better? Plum or nude? You decide! I would love to hear from you!

God bless!

Rebel Rock Makeup

Hey guys! I missed blogging! Sorry for being MIA during the long weekend. I went out on a class trip. I will share about it on a separate post. I really have a lot to post but I don't have enough time to do all of them. Hope I'll be able to catch up this week!

Anyway, here is the third look I made for my cousin, Chloe. Check out the very first look I made for her here! The second look aka the Nicki Minaj Inspired Makeup and this look I'll be sharing with you is made possible through the DollFace 88-color eye shadow palette. I have a review on it here

Without further ado, here is the third and final look! Sorry I can't think of a better title. Heeeeehee.

Pardon the poor lighting and focus! My cousin is blessed with long, thick and curled lashes. I only put a coat of mascara. I didn't even used an eyelash curler but look! Her lashes are perfect! I did a black smokey eye for this look. The black eye shadow included in the DollFace palette has good pigmentation. Black enough!

I tweaked the picture a little bit to make it look more dramatic. I used NYX Soft Matte Lip cream in London for her pouty lips. Nude lips is perfect for dramatic eye makeup.

Anyway, her awesome top  is from Chicadora, an online clothing shop my friend and I put up. Go visit us!
we are currently having our Anniversary Sale. Super sale! Clothes are priced for as low as 50php. Check out our Anniversary Sale now!

So what do you think of this look? Among the three looks I created for her, which suits her best? I would love to hear your comments!

God bless!

Nicki Minaj Inspired Makeup

Hi guys! I'll be making this post quick and simple! This is the second look I made for my cousin, Chloe. Check out the first one here. I wanted a colorful eye makeup. You know someone famous for bold, colorful, dramatic makeups? Yep, that's Nicki Minaj! And so I googled Nicki Minaj Colorful Makeup.

From Google images

And ta-dah! Picked this picture as my inspiration. I decided to recreate the look using my DollFace palette of course! it has all the colors!! Check out my DollFace palette here.

Here is my version.. I completely filled in her entire lids! There isn't much space!

I completed the look by adding a pair of really thick and long falsies!

Now for a full-face picture. Heeee. Don't laugh at me, okay? I'm still new at this. I know I still have A LOT to learn and improve on. I will practice, practice, practice!! I don't know if it's obvious but I did a flimsy job in contouring her nose. I really have a poor eyesight. I did not wear my glasses while doing her makeup. Emsorreh.

That's it! What do you think of my recreation? Is it pop or flop? (I'm watching Poptalk too much. Hehe.)

To my followers, i need your help!

I need your help. I lost my FOLLOWING LIST/READING LIST. I just need you to comment your blog urls so I can follow you back again. Read further if you wanna know why I lost my following/reading list.

Sometimes smart phones are just too smart.

I switched to an android smartphone just recently and it needed my Google account to access the play store. My blogger pictures were then copied to my phone. Horror! Why? Been hearing blogger problems about lost pictures because of automatic synchronization with their smart phones. If you are following Ms. Donna of My Lucid Intervals, you will know how she lost her her quality pictures. Once the blogger folder is deleted on your phone, all of your blogger pictures will be deleted too (yes, up to your oldest post!).

I wouldn't want that to happen! What if my phone is affected by a virus? What if I accidentally deleted my blogger folder? No way! That would mean goodbye to blogging!!

To prevent that from happening, I imported my blog to another Google account (iyaboto2@gmail.com, add me on Google+). Upon importing my blog, I lost my FOLLOWING LIST/READING LIST!

Please comment in your blog urls so I can follow you back again. Thank you for taking time to read this!

Have a good night!
God bless!
